FORT BEND, TX — The construction of the new Fort Bend Town Center METRO Garage hit a milestone with the completion of all the structural work. A topping-out ceremony was held to celebrate the hard work and achievements of all involved in the project. Over 100 were in attendance including Missouri City Mayor Robin J. Elackatt, Fort Bend County elected officials, Metropolitan Transit Authority (METRO) officials, representatives from NewQuest, Flintco, and SCA Consulting Engineers, and trade partners.
The ceremony commenced with a barbecue luncheon while different team members and officials addressed the attendees about the major accomplishments of the project and the positive impact on the surrounding community. Members signed the final precast concrete panel commemorating their contributions before it was raised, along with a tree and American flag, and placed at the highest point of the building.
Inspired by METRO’s successful project in Katy, Texas, the Fort Bend Town Center Metro Garage sets a new standard for innovative design in parking solutions. Serving Southwest Houston exclusively for METRO’s Park & Ride program, the 1,750-vehicle garage includes a parking guidance system featuring full red light/green lights functionality. This advanced system ensures seamless navigation and optimal utilization of parking spaces, enhancing the overall experience for visitors and commuters.
Designed by SCA Consulting Engineers, the Fort Bend Town Center Metro Garage features a canopy and metal panels that integrate both functionality and aesthetics. These elements not only serve as decorative features, but also support passive exhaust systems, combining form and purpose.
Bringing a portfolio of parking garage construction nationwide, Flintco is the general contractor for the project. Flintco’s recent experience includes parking structures for Sam Houston State University, Texas Facility Commission, Walmart, and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. NewQuest is the project developer.

"We're proud to contribute to the city’s infrastructure and growth and look forward to future partnerships with NewQuest Properties and METRO," said Joel Lester, Flintco Vice President and Area Manager.
The garage plays a crucial role in expanding public transportation options for Fort Bend County’s burgeoning population. The new transit center, slated to be completed in Q2 2025, is planned to remove approximately 2,000 cars from highways, leading to improved air quality and providing more personal time for commuters using it.
